So, you found yourself reading The Record…the only place that will print our terrible thoughts on a plethora of beers and liquors. We are your average consumers of various beverages with controversial opinions. Please, if you are under 21, follow the law and don’t consume alcoholic beverages. If you are of a legal drinking age, please drink responsibly and stop at buzzed!

With the leaves starting to change and October fast approaching, we decided to review Samuel Adams Sweater Weather Variety pack. This 12-pack includes Festbeir, Jack-O, Octoberfest and the classic Boston Lager.

**Boston Lager**

This beer is known for how bitter it is and it did not disappoint. Boston Lager smells exactly like I imagine Bill Burr’s breath to smell like—very hoppy.

After a brief period of sweetness sponsored by the barley in the malt, the extremely bitter flavor profile of Boston Lager overwhelmed our tastebuds. This is a beer a fussy beer drinker would not enjoy.

In terms of color, it is about the same as the tables in the Reef.

Overall, this beer would be great to hold in one hand as you pour $1 million worth of tea into Boston Harbor.

**Festbier**

Out of the four beers we tried for this week’s article, this lager had the least amount of flavor.

The initial taste it gave off reminded me of a cheap light beer with a faintly bitter aftertaste.

This seasonal lager came out with a bright golden amber color and a minute amount of carbonation.

There is not much that makes this beer stand out. The lack of flavor is made up for by its whopping 5.8% alcohol content.

This is the perfect drink to throw down after watching Greg Joseph miss a 37-yard field goal to defeat the Cardinals.

**Octoberfest**

Even though it is named after (but with a slightly different spelling) the wondrous holiday in Germany where they sport lederhosen and alpine hats, Octoberfest tastes, smells and evokes no feeling of the holiday. It is a heresy that they share a similar name. This beer evokes a sense of being at a farmer’s market in the fall surrounded by the smell of apples, pumpkins and all things fall.

This beer is the second most bitter of the three but is much softer than the traditional Boston Lager.

The best part about this beer is the slight cinnamon flavor and smell. I can safely say that we might not have potassium as great as Kazakhstan, but we have Samuel Adams Octoberfest and that is all that matters.

**Jack-O**

Like all flavored drinks and food in the fall, Samuel Adams decided to put pumpkin flavoring into a beer. This festive ale overwhelms your nose with the aroma of pumpkin pie and cinnamon.

The dark color may be misleading as this was the sweetest of the four drinks we tried. As someone with an appreciation for pumpkin pie and sweeter drinks, this was very enjoyable but I would not prefer to have more than one.

This flavorful ale would be best paired with a hot Thanksgiving dinner in the Reef followed by some pumpkin pie with vanilla ice cream on the side. The first taste made me want to go to Milk and Honey, take a picture for Instagram and then leave.

Any single Bennies that are Christian and ready to mingle over the flavors brought to use by Bostonian cousins, well our emails are right there. Remember, if you are of age, stop at buzzed!
