So, you found yourself reading The Record the other day… the only newspaper with editors willing to print our deeply insightful reviews on beers, seltzers, and liquors.

We are just your average consumers of alcoholic beverages with bold and controversial opinions. Please don’t consume alcoholic beverages if you are under 21 and follow the law. If you are of legal drinking age, please drink responsibly and… stop at buzzed!

For this week’s article we are reviewing Minnesota brewed drinks, brought to us by our good friend, Ryan Miller.

First, we are trying Lil Dipper, a pale ale. Named after our second favorite constellation, this beverage comes in at 5.4% abv and 40 ibu (international bitterness units) and comes in a 750 ml can.

This APA is brought to us by the Arbeiter Brewing Co in Minneapolis. This brew tastes and smells like every other APA we have tasted thus far. It is a great drink to have with dinner and we did not get sick of it after finishing the whole crowler (big can), but there was not much separating it from every other APA.

We would definitely enjoy having it again but there is not a whole lot to talk about. It was significantly better than the other three drinks we tried for this week.

Next, we tried three drinks from Urban Growler Brewing, another company based out of the Twin Cities.

The first drink we tried was a vanilla latte blonde ale. Coming in at 5.6% abv and 15 ibu, this drink was our favorite of the three from this brewery.

From the first taste we were immediately reminded of a watery, carbonated iced coffee with too much creamer. The drink is not bad to sip on but we would not seek it out again.

The drink we tried next was Cowbell Cream Ale by Urban Growler Brewing. With 5.2% abv and 20 ibu, this brew was the only one that resembled an actual beer. It seems like the brewery was trying to go for a Minnesota Gold type drink with a bitter aftertaste but fell short.

As far as light beers go, this beverage does not meet expectations and we would rank it below a Boxer.

The final drink we indulged in was a porter called De-Lovely. This brew has 5.6% abv and 33 ibu. Despite being named De-Lovely, this drink was far from lovely. Mack describes it as the worst beer he has ever tasted.

On a scale from one to ten, the math department has informed us that the negative limit does not exist. The brewery describes it as a “Sweet, Coffee with low bitterness.” We got the impression that they took their
Cowbell Cream Ale and mixed it with an old, black McDonalds coffee, creating a foul mix.

Next week, we will be drinking excessive amounts of the review material to forget about how bad Cowbell and De-Lovely were.

Are you a single Bennie? Do you have strong thoughts on alcoholic beverages? Lucky for you, so do we. We are fun, energetic men, who also care deeply about the current supply chain crisis who would love to discuss it with you over alcoholic beverages.

We are thinking Milk and Honey if you are up to it course. Remember, if you are of age, stop at buzzed! Anyways, back to choring.
